James Heeley

As a designer influenced by nature it was logical that James Heeley should be fascinated by the world of scent. It was in France, where he learned the art of perfumery.

One of his first works, ‘Menthe Fraîche’ (2006) is remarkable as a minimal, natural and surprisingly wearable scent. Over time, always with a notion of elegance and balance, his scents evolved into more complex creations such as ‘Cardinal’, and ‘Sel Marin’ now recognised as contemporary classics.

His continually evolving work contains a varied collection of unique perfumes. Every detail, from the creation of the scent to the graphic design and packaging is designed ‘in house’. Today, Heeley is one of the few independent owner-founder-creator, perfume houses in Europe. It is this independence that allows the creative freedom to create individual scents that are simply unique.

Born in Yorkshire, England, James Heeley studied Philosophy and Law at King’s College, London University and is a qualified Barrister.  Recent collaborations include the creation of signature scents for Dom Perignon (LVMH) and Maison Kitsuné.
